The Lighthill Risk Network is an all encompassing and inclusive organisation with the specific aim to facilitate and enhance knowledge transfer into business from academic, government and commercial experts at the forefront of risk-related research.

It is a cost effective not-for-profit organisation that is funded
by industry and government and we are managed by a core
team of professionals from (re)insurance, science and
engineering. By utilising the expertise from each sector, the
Lighthill Risk Network is in a unique position of being able to
link our extensive academic knowledge to the research
needs of industry.

Promoting personal contacts, the network provides the business community with a gateway into the latest knowledge and understanding of risk, and at the same time presents the scientific community with opportunities to interact with industry and government.

The specific aim of the Network is to facilitate and enhance knowledge transfer into business, initially insurance, from academic, government, professional and commercial experts at the forefront of risk-related research.

This part of the website sets out the central aims of the Lighthill Risk Network (Vision statement), and provides an outline of our organisation structure in terms of our Management Board, Staff, and Advisory steering committees.  Our Board includes representation from leading individuals in insurance, science, engineering and government, and enables us to sit at the cutting edge of research, whilst understanding the emerging needs and requirements of business in today's changing regulatory and physical climate.

Targeting the latest developments in key areas of risk (see Key topics), and promoting the translation of knowledge between communities, the Lighthill Risk Network exists to focus and facilitate business's response to managing risk.
