The Lighthill Risk Network

Dickie Whitaker is the Industry Director of the Lighthill Risk Network, and chair of the Lighthill Risj Network’s Industry Advisory Board. He is also the Managing Director of Instrat in Guy Carpenter.

Dickie started his career with Sedgwick in 1982 in London. When Guy Carpenter formed EQECAT in 1994, a joint venture with EQE Inc, Dickie joined the team to assist in the development and sales of Catastrophe models. Between 1994 and 1998 EQECAT produced catastrophe models in 80 countries and Dickie held various positions including head of UK sales and marketing.

In 1998 Dickie continued his career as a Director of another Guy Carpenter company, Intermediary Systems Limited (ISL), with specific responsibility for risk management consultancy services. Dickie was a key member of the team that expanded the scope of ISL to encompass a wide range of Insurance services and products.

Since March 2000 Dickie moved back to Guy Carpenter to head up the catastrophe modelling and services division. In 2003 Dickie moved to New York to take responsibility for Instrat operations in the Easten region and in 2006 returned to London to take responsibility for Instrat in Europe. He regularly lectures on risk management techniques and contributes articles to the trade press.
